Birthdays Galore

October is the month for Birthdays at MVBC! If you were at KidStuf on Sunday you heard Mickey announce that we are hosting a birthday party for the kids at the Community Kitchen on October 10. I know October 10 sounds far away, but it's really only about 2 1/2 weeks from now. (Where has September gone?) We are asking families in our church to sponsor these children for $25 each. The plan is to purchase toiletry items to give them as gifts. Plus, the party will be complete with games, fun and CAKE. If you would like to sponsor a child, please talk to myself or Dawn Morrow this coming Sunday.

If you aren't able to sponsor a child but would still like to help, I have good news for you. You can help! We need pumpkins. It being fall, every child will get a pumpkin (or two). You can never have too many pumpkins! We would like every child at MVBC to bring a pumpkin with them to KidStuf this Sunday to give to the kids at the Community Kitchen.

Want to be more hands on? I have good news for you too. You can! We'd love to have many of our church families and CHILDREN go to the birthday party just spend time with the children there, to love them and serve them. If you'd like to help in this way, please talk to Dawn on Sunday.

On a bit of a different topic - we are celebrating another very special birthday in October. Darvinson, the boy that our children's Sunday School classes sponsor through Compassion International, has a birthday in October. We collect $38 every month from children's Sunday School offerings in order to provide medical help, education, and most importantly the gospel to Darvinson through the ministry of Compassion. On his birthday, we'd like to do a little something extra.

How can you be a part of this? I'm so glad you asked! Every Sunday an offering is collected during the Children's Sunday School time (right after Prove It Kids). If you'd like to give toward Darvinson's birthday present, send the money with your child to Sunday School or you may give the money to me at KidStuf.
